Honda must be crapping their pants over this decision. The Chevrolet version has been such a disaster GM has issued stop sales orders. It’s hard to believe Honda would partner with GM on the first model year of a new technology. This can’t possibly end well.

I find it interesting that I was born in the sixties when some people had five or six kids and an SUV would have been handy. Now people have two kids max but we have to have a mini tank. Go figure.

I really like so many things about the Crosstrek, but the one thing that just has me cringing is that horrific start/stop feature. I know it can be disabled, but I hate the idea of having to disable it every single time I get into the car.

Negotiate online first, get all numbers settled before you go to a dealership. We have to get dealers use to this practice. They are called dealers for a reason, they want to talk you into the highest numbers. They want you to sign based on emotion and put you in debt prison. The dealership is the auto mafia’s turf, the internet and cash is our turf.

Thanks for highlighting the foot print has increased. I owned a 2003 CR-V and it is smaller than the "subcompact" HR-V from Honda. My old CR-V was nimble and actually drove like a car but the current "compact" SUV segment across the various brands can no longer claim that based on pure size, turning radius, etc

This does not work totally for a 997.2 The rear compartment fourth screw is under the black trim piece held down by the other three screws.

You went on and on for over 15-minutes and I don't think you ever discussed the transmission. I think this car has a CVT, and many people of issues with this in many vehicles. Almost as important as the engine choices/

I live in Utah and have a 2 liter Crosstrek manual transmission, with a 2.5 inch lift kit, the car performs excellent! Before I installed the lift kit, I was a little bit worry about maneuverability in curves, but the car after 4 years and more than 40,000 miles feels solid and no issues so far.

Im a muscle car guy, every car I’ve owned has been a V8 and the idea of owning a prius was akin to burning the flag to me. After seeing one of these new Prius’s in person I was shocked. It’s actually a beautiful car, and now that I’ve got a long commute to work I’m considering one. It’s a sharp looking car.

My experience with shopping Subarus is that you don't really have a choice of the 2.5 engine in the Base and Premium versions. You have to go up to the next levels to get a 2.5 which are priced higher. Still I like my Premium 2.0, but then I live only 700 feet above sea level so probably can get by okay with the smaller engine. Thanks for a great review.

On pricing in the US, this seems like a poor value. In Canada, specifically in Quebec, the FWD version at least is far more competitive with the current government subsidies (though they will be substantially scaled back over the next 2-3 years). Going forward, in the US (and Canada post-subsidies), either a better range or a major price reduction will become necessary (ideally both, but not likely). In my market (Quebec), it remains on my list of possible options because of the subsidies (12,000$), the FWD better range/lower price (about 5000$), and the fact only the Kona EV represents a lower cost option (and not a huge difference). The market I envy is Europe as they have so many more options, but c’est la vie.
